Atlantic Canada’s Small Business blog is pleased to announce the Get Googled initiative. Here is the best part - it’s free! This initiative is open to all businesses in Atlantic Canada.

Get Googled! What’s that?

Simply put, we’ll help you reach the top 20 in generic Google search. No strings attached. Seriously - we want you to be found on-line. Do you? And if you are already online, the more credible sites link to you the better.

Why?

The world has shrunk significantly over the last decade. The sooner you get that the better. Moreover, I’m sure you would agree that a diversified customer base is the better option during a downturn. Ask those business owners whose only customers were in the United States. Either their receivables have now ballooned or they now face an uncertain future in face of “protectionism” by the Obama government.

The globe is now your backyard. Do not limit yourself geographically. If you are not using social tools like LinkedIn to grow your business, at least help yourself and be found online within the top 20 results in generic search engine results.

Wait … did you say it was free?

Yes, it’s at no cost to you.

Let’s face it. Your marketing dollars are too precious to throw at some consultant for Search Engine Optimization (SEO). Did I hear you say - Ad-words? Sure, but you know what, there’s always going to be someone who will bid higher than you on important keywords. Not much you can do about it. More importantly, how many people click on the “sponsored links” results? Ranking higher in generic search engine results rage (SERP) will do more for your business than a “sponsored link”.

Even if you swear by the power of Ad-words, you have nothing to lose. It does not hurt to have another page on-line with your keywords and key phrases.

No strings attached, eh?

Absolutely, except two.
1. You want to be found online; you are working to improve your online presence. You realize the value of the internet and want to leverage it to drive growth.
2. You need to tell us how you expect your prospects and customer to find you using search. For example, if you were in the business of manufacturing widgets, you will need to tell me how you expect to be found online; i.e. what keywords or phrases do you expect people to search for and get to you.
