He who rejects change is the architect of decay. The only human institution which rejects progress is a cemetery. ~ Harold Wilson, British Prime Minister
Change is an inevitable part of every project, and the management of project change is one of the most important aspects of a project’s lifecycle. If you enter a project with the opinion that nothing will change you are in for a huge surprise.
The presentation will center on change management, tools, techniques and processes surrounding change management and some best practices on how you can make projects more successful by embracing change and managing it well.
Guest Speaker: David Bainbridge, Sr. Project Manager and Consultant with xwave, a division of Bell Aliant. David joined xwave in 2005 as part of xwave’s acquisition of Fujitsu Consulting’s Atlantic Canadian practice and was with Fujitsu and its predecessor DMR for 13 years. During this tenure he managed projects from the small to the very large and complex. In his capacity as Director of an Atlantic Canadian based Delivery Centre, he oversaw several projects and outsource engagements for many large North American based clients, such as Boeing, Toyota, Merrill Lynch an General Electric. He also managed the transition of application support services to offshore providers for many US based customers. From 1997 to 2000, David was responsible for overall management of application management services for one of the largest natural gas pipeline and energy companies in North America, Trans-Canada Pipelines, based in Calgary.
David is currently a Manager of Professional Services, and as a Sr. Project Manager oversees several key projects within Atlantic Canada. David is also responsible for professional services business development within the Atlantic Canadian market.
Many of the projects in which David has led involve the transition from one state to another, which inherently involves significant change, both technical and organizational. Formal change process and consistency has been the key to success in these projects.
David is a member of both PMI (Project Management Institute) and CIPS (Canadian Information Processing Society) and holds recognized certifications within each organization.
