Does your website do this?

You spend a lot of time, money and resources developing a great website. But you know what, it is no good if your customers or prospects are unable to view it.
The least I would expect is a website down for maintenance notice. We have sophisticated content management systems today that enables you to accomplish this very thing. This is a pretty large Information Technology organization with multiple offices across the globe. And now this …
As I started writing this post, I fired up IE to attempt to view the page; it is still trying to display the home page.
Do yourself a favor and invest in a decent content management system that will handle such emergencies. Or get someone to publish a “Down for maintenance” notice at least.

I agree 100% with this…you can spend alot of time building a brand and then have a potential prospect get this response and all of a sudden your hard work is gone…in milli seconds.
Always protect your brand….
a simple error 404page would resolve this issue - need to include details in the htaccess file maybe science to some but very useful for when typo errors.

Commonsense - have someone monitor the site regularly.
